‘Let light shine out of darkness’ 2Cor.4:6
Light shining out of darkness. Who can understand it? Yet this is the work Jesus invites us to do with him. Together, fellow-workers with the Master bringing light and hope. Hope to orphans whose families have been decimated by AIDS and other scourges.
Hope to poor children, providing an educational life line out of poverty Hope to deaf and blind children, born into remote rural communities unable to provide the special education necessary.
Hope to the hungry. Hope to those who hunger for good news. Together we play our part in this generation among those who are the link in God’s plan of salvation. God, through us as his ambassadors, making his appeal, ‘Be reconciled to God!’

Ambitions for 2008
As I write this letter Kenya is in turmoil after the election. Our hope is for peace and standards of justice, fairness, equality and integrity to be established in Government creating the climate for growth and a shared move to prosperity.
For our part we have some unfinished business we wish to complete:
• Finish site registration to allow us to proceed to build phase 1(the bedrooms etc.), of the 48 bed children’s home at Wamba;
• Explore the needs of the children’s home we have been asked to sponsor at Isiolo, secure the future of the 46 orphans and agree how we proceed in our relationship;
• Visit again the remote Primary School, for 190 children, we have been asked to take under our wing and take forward discussions with the present sponsor with a view to completion by July 2008;
• Strengthen the support for nursery schools among the remote Rendille tribe;
• Build on the experience with the Deaf School and the Blind Unit in Isiolo which are serving the whole area of our interest in the North of Kenya. We want to seek out the disadvantaged deaf and blind children in the villages and bring them hope; and,
• Develop the bible club reaching out to more of the children and adults within our sphere of influence.
After a happy Christmas among family and just before the year end I was reluctant to think about our next visit to Kenya in mid January. Then we were reminded in church that a newly born child in a family brings about change and challenged with the question, ‘What has changed as a result of Christmas and Jesus coming into your life?’ A question worthy of careful consideration.
Can we ignore the second half of the greatest commandment? ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ Having been to Northern Kenya and seen the state of our neighbour I’m afraid we cannot turn back, even in ‘old age.’ We are pleased to be the channel for many to show their love for their neighbour who is in need. These bodies are wasting away but inside we are renewed every day and our sight line is onward and upward. We seek to live by faith and not by sight trusting God to provide for all the needs of his work, which he has been doing abundantly, including someone to take up the reins when He says, “Time to rest.”
Thank you for standing with us. Continue faithfully in prayer. He is able:
- Give thanks for all that has been achieved in Kenya & for the growth of the support base at home; - Pray for the topics mentioned above; - Pray for the visit by Ken and Pamela Jan-Mar and those coming out to help during the summer; - Pray for a strengthened leadership team in Kenya and at home; and, - Continue to pray for vision and wisdom for the Kindfund leadership.
