Welcome to Stephen Scott elected to serve on Kindfund Committee at the AGM held on Fri 18 May 07. Stephen will take a particular interest in developing the Bible Education Services (BES). He joins on the committee Phil Crook, Chairman; Liz Crook, Pamela Dobbin, Treasurer; Ken Dobbin, Secretary; and Jonathan Dobbin. 27th April 2007 Wamba Site Samburu County Council have granted KIndfund a 5 acre site at Wamba to develop a home for the most needy orphan children.
The plans for a 48 bed home have been approved by the public health and the planning authorities. We will shortly be going to tender to build the home. |

April 07: Rebecca Hussey Charity
The Trustees of the Rebecca Hussey Charity have allocated £1,000 in support of our application.
The funds are to be used in support of the BES Bible club which we launched in Kenya in February. The aim of the club is to encourage young people to read the bible and know the author. The main bible stories are covered in weekly lessons which are well presented at four different levels from Primary to Senior. |

27th March 2007 Achievements on recent visit
Stephen, Colin, David, Pamela and Ken were in Kenya between 11th January and 14th March. Apart from some tummy upsets and the need for rest all returned well and in good spirit.

These two months have been very difficult for everyone due to the very heavy seasonal rains. Floods and mud have made travel difficult and dangerous. All have been safe on the projects although the youngest nursery children lost a lot of schooling. Some crops and young trees have been destroyed |

10 new orphans accepted on the programme at Wamba, Samburu District 23 elderly widows added to the food support programme in N'garemara District - bringing to 63 the number of widows supported. |

Heavy rains in Northern Kenya have added to the misery, in the short term, of the people suffering through famine but could bring hope of better things later. Estimates put cattle loss at 70% and without assistance 15 years to rebuild herds. 3,500 people were displaced along the banks of the Ewaso Ngiro when it burst its banks earlier in the month. Kindfund is working with orphans at Archers Post which sits along the river. |
