28th July Nairobi

We arrived here mid afternoon after calling at Kisima Farm near Nanyuki, to meet the owner,
one of the sponsors of the Blind Unit at Isiolo. We were accompanied by Rueben the retired blind
teacher who had started the blind unit with their support.
The Human Rights Commissioners had been looking into conditions at the school and they have
recommended that Kisima and Kindfund are made Trustees of the site where the blind are
accommodated - thus the visit to meet the owners of Kisima, a commercial farm. The
grandparents of the present owners had supported Rueben through his education. We agreed on
what needed to be done and left with some action steps.

We had visited the children at the Blind Unit on Saturday and enjoyed their company. Linda as
usual coming up with some things to amuse, excite and entertain the children.

We were in the area after having spent the night with the orphans of Kilimani home. George
and I in the boys dorm. Pamela, Linda, Nancy, Lillian and Glory in the girls. In the morning
all I could hear was - there are now 4 in my bed. Arriving on Friday we provided wood and
one additional iron sheet to repair the roof and facia boards.
The football ordered by Maureen provided plenty of excitement along with skipping ropes.
We brought maize, beans and some other provisions along with oranges and bananas. Living
with the children showed us just how little they had and yet they have a gentleness and
the peace of God is very evident.

We brought two more mattresses but they badly need bowls and spoons - most were eating out
of a variety of plastic containers and some sharing these. Next time we will bring.

The week had begun the previous Sat as we collected George and Linda from their 3 day break at
Serena game park and went on to visit the Samburu Community School which we are supporting.
(Janet, the American sponsor turned up at Ngaremara on Sun am) We were back through
the Ngaremara gate on Mon am to travel through Serena Park, cross the Waso river and travel
on West through Samburu Park to Wamba to visit the children and see progress with the Home.

Two days with the children impacted on George and Linda. The little families on their own
as a result of HIV and the loving response of the younger children.
The project there is going well and we dealt with some minor matters then spent an afternoon
collecting reports and photos for sponsors. We managed just over half of the 45 reports.
Thank you to all of you who sponsor children here.

We stayed at the Catholic Mission for the two nights and took time to pay a visit to the
home for the severely physically and mentally handicapped children in the Home there.
The Sisters mainly from India are totally dedicated to their calling with these children.
Remember them and all the children at Wamba before the Lord.

The Home for the orphans continues to progress well and while a little slower than we had
planned August should see this phase finished and the building ready for children. The
location is quite stunning looking out at the surrounding mountains.

On Wed we travelled to Archers Post in time to meet the children on the feeding programme
there before returning to Ngaremara.

Thur Locham, Clifford and I went to Meru for a number of jobs the most important of which
was to collect two Afridev hand pumps for installation with the Rendille. On Wed Raphael
had visited Laisamis and was able to call me on the phone. James and Thomas had dug to
22 feet but no sign of water yet. They were asking for new chisels made from old car
springs. We will bring on next visit. On the way back from Meru we collected the small
trap door we had ordered to be made in Isiolo - for the base of the pump allowing entry
into the well when the pump is in place. The welder is to make us a sample bed.

Pamela George and Linda had remained on site to work with the Nursery Children and orphans.
As we drew near to Ngaremara we could see their handiwork in all the painted faces we met.
The children and many of the adult workers had had a ball.

We are here in Nairobi until Wed when George and Linda fly back. Remember all our journeys
in your prayers. While here we have a few things to do with Government. Pray also for
success.

Remember also our bible weeks 11th and 18th of August. The teams from YWAM and the Salvation
Army who will be coming to Ngaremara to support us.

Continue to pray for people with the right heart to strengthen the work with the children and
the right second car. The needs are becoming great as the work expands.

Our God is more than able to meet all these needs and we continue to be amazed as we wait
on Him.

Rejoice with us and give thanks for His goodness and faithfulness

Yours in our Saviour's name

Ken and Pamela
