# First impressions at Teacher Training College

I decided to go to the back of the room where I asked the school watchman and he helped me with directions. God never fails. I reached to the bank I talked with the cashier and they helped me immediately.

Maureen at college

Hi Dad, Mum and the team the college is fairly nice and I am good too. Am trying to cope with the new environment at teachers college though there are some challenges at the new environment.

On the first day since I took myself to school I arrived by bus at the strange town. I did not know anyone or anyplace there since I arrived late in the afternoon. I went to the college and they gave us free accommodation since it was too late to admit more students.

The next morning I was sent to the bank to check whether the school fees are in the school system but to my surprise I did not no where to start from. I tried to convince the school administration but the feedback they gave it was shocking. I decided to go to the back of the room where I asked the school watchman and he helped me with directions. God never fails. I reached to the bank I talked with the cashier and they helped me immediately.

Besides that the college also have other challenges:-
The first one is;
1 Home sickness
Being away from family and friends can lead to the feeling of loneliness Solution
Stay connected with loved ones through calls and video chats .Building a support network on campus by joining clubs or study groups can also help.

2 Mental health and stress

The demands of college can lead to anxiety depression or burnout.

Solution

Make self care a priority. The college offers counselling services, so consider reaching out if you are feeling overwhelmed.

3 Making new friends
For me socializing in a new environment – it is intimidating.

Solution

I try to put myself out there by attending campus events, joining clubs or simply striking up a conversation with my classmate.

4 Financial struggles

Sometimes at campus the school does not offer good food for students and you end up just eating the kind of food because no otherwise .The lectures offer a lot of work that needs internet when you try to search for the internet its low because of large amount of people using it so this needs money so that you can finish your homework.

Solution

For now I am coping in the college effectively and I have engaged in different activities like playing volleyball and dancing. I hope all shall be good in Jesus name.
I also appreciate Kindfund sponsors for what you are doing for us because I know its not easy May God bless you all.

The other photo is Mayanae as a 12 yr old at Kindfund and who has graduated from College in November 2024. We thank God for his goodness.
